Fortnite FTC Refund: Payment Status in 2026
Fortnite FTC Refund Status
The FTC Fortnite refund program is still active, but new claims are closed. In June 2025 the FTC sent 969,173 payments totaling more than $126 million to Fortnite players who were charged for unwanted purchases and filed a valid claim by February 14, 2025. The FTC expects to send additional payments in 2026 after reviewing and validating all claims, and it has said no further action is needed from players who filed after February 14, 2025.
What the Refund Covers
The refunds come from a $245 million settlement between the FTC and Epic Games. According to the FTC, Epic unlawfully charged players for unwanted in-game purchases, let children rack up unauthorized charges without parental permission, and blocked some users who disputed wrongful charges from accessing purchased content. The settlement also required Epic to get positive consent before charging users and banned the company from locking players out of their accounts for disputing charges.
Who Was Eligible to File
Eligibility covered three groups of players: anyone charged in-game currency for items they did not want between January 2017 and September 2022, anyone whose child made credit card charges without their knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018, and anyone whose account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after complaining to their credit card company about wrongful charges. Claimants had to be at least 18, with parents or guardians completing the form for minors.
How Refunds Are Paid
Players receive the payment type they selected during the claims process, either by check or through PayPal. If you get a check, cash it within 90 days. If you get a PayPal payment, accept it within 30 days. Refund amounts depend on how many valid claims were filed, so individual payments vary. Questions about payments can go to the refund administrator at 1-833-915-0880.
Claim Deadline and Rules
The deadline to file a claim was July 9, 2025, and the FTC is no longer accepting new claims. If you filed a claim after February 14, 2025, your claim is still under review and you do not need to do anything else right now. The FTC updates its Fortnite refunds page when new information is available, and the additional 2026 payments will be announced there first.
Avoid Refund Scams
The FTC will never demand money, make threats, tell you to transfer money or promise a prize in exchange for your refund. Any message that asks for payment to "release" your Fortnite refund is a scam. The refund program is handled through the official FTC refund administrator only, and legitimate updates come from ftc.gov. If someone contacts you claiming to be from the refund team, ignore the message and report it to the FTC.
