Fortnite Kingdom Hearts Collab Delayed: What We Know
The Collab Was Delayed at the Last Minute
Fortnite's highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts collaboration has reportedly been delayed at the last minute, according to leakers cited by Polygon and other outlets on September 5. The crossover, which was expected to feature Sora and his Keyblade, was originally slated to arrive with the v42.10 update on Thursday, September 3. It did not appear in the game, and leakers say the release was postponed without a new date.
What Was Supposed to Launch on September 3
Players expected the Kingdom Hearts collab to drop after downtime on September 3, alongside the season Loot Hacks and Sprite content. Data miners had already found Sora-related assets and vehicle cosmetics in the game files, including a Gummi Ship, suggesting items were staged for a near-term release. Instead, the update shipped without the collaboration, and community leakers were the first to flag the delay.
Sora Skin and Gummi Ship Leaks
The Sora skin has been one of the most requested Fortnite crossovers for years, and assets for the Kingdom Hearts set reportedly include Sora costume, a Keyblade pickaxe and Gummi Ship-themed cosmetic vehicles. The leaked files match patterns from past collaborations, which is why the expectation of a September 3 launch was so widespread before the delay was reported.
No Official Reason or New Date Yet
No official reason for the delay has been provided, and Epic Games has not announced a replacement release date as of September 7. Leakers including SpushFNBR said the Kingdom Hearts collab would still happen and most likely arrive with the next update, but that remains speculation. Fans are waiting for an official announcement to confirm when Sora will finally reach the island.
When Could the Delay End
The next likely window for the delayed collab is a future content update in Chapter 7 Season 4, with some leakers pointing to the mid-season patch after September 10. Past collaborations that were delayed at the last minute have typically shipped with the following patch, so watch the official Fortnite social channels and the Item Shop for the Sora set in the coming weeks.
What This Means for Chapter 7 Season 4
While you wait for Sora, Chapter 7 Season 4 still has plenty to collect, including the 14 Loot Hacker Sprites arriving on September 10 and the ongoing Gaming Legends lineup. Keep an eye on the daily Item Shop rotation, because collaborations like this one often land with minimal advance warning once the green light is given. The Kingdom Hearts collab is coming, the question is only when.
