Second Pac-Man x Fortnite Collab

Pac-Man has returned to Fortnite on September 17, 2026, as part of the v42.20 update. This is the second Pac-Man x Fortnite collaboration, following the first one in Chapter 3 Season 3 in June 2022. The new collab launched alongside the Kingdom Hearts crossover and is positioned as the first collaboration of Fortnite’s "Gaming Legends" season, Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. The Pac-Man content was officially teased on September 14, with hints appearing as early as August 2026.

Mecha Ghost Bosses: Blinky, Pinky, Inky & Clyde

The headline feature of this collab is the addition of PAC-MAN's iconic ghost enemies as boss characters in Fortnite. Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde appear as mecha ghost bosses on the map, adding a new layer of combat encounters to the standard Battle Royale experience. These mecha ghosts are larger-than-normal enemies that players can engage, and they represent a departure from the purely cosmetic nature of the 2022 Pac-Man collaboration. Insider Gaming and GoNintendo confirmed the mecha ghost boss concept on September 17.

Blinky Companion Sprite

Players can also obtain a Blinky companion sprite, a mini ghost that follows your player character around the map. The sprite is available as an in-game collectible at a specific map location, and also as a purchasable shop item. Companion sprites in Fortnite provide passive visual effects and occasionally trigger special animations. Blinky is the classic red ghost from PAC-MAN, making this sprite a fan-favorite addition. The sprite system was expanded with 42 new sprites in the same v42.20 update.

Three Themed Islands on the Map

The collab adds three themed islands to the Fortnite map: Blinky Island, Pinky Island, and Pac-Man Island. Each island features PAC-MAN-themed landmarks, decorations, and content that players can explore. These islands serve as dedicated areas for the collaboration content, giving players specific locations to find related items and experience the theme. The three-island approach is more extensive than the 2022 collab, which was limited to shop cosmetics without dedicated map content.

Gaming Legends Season: First Collab

Pac-Man is officially designated as the first collaboration of Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, which is themed around "Gaming Legends." This season launched on August 20, 2026, and features a roster of iconic gaming characters and franchises. Sonic the Hedgehog was the launch character, followed by Crash Bandicoot, and now Pac-Man marks the third gaming legend collab. The Gaming Legends theme positions Fortnite as a showcase for classic arcade and console franchises, with each collab bringing unique gameplay features and cosmetics.

How This Differs from the 2022 Collab

The 2022 Pac-Man collaboration in Chapter 3 Season 3 focused on shop cosmetics including skins, emotes, and accessories. The 2026 version in Chapter 7 Season 4 goes much further with mecha ghost bosses that can be fought in-game, a companion sprite, and three dedicated themed islands. This represents a shift in Epic’s approach to arcade-style collaborations, moving from cosmetic-only to full gameplay integration. The mecha ghost concept also connects to Fortnite’s existing boss fight mechanics, creating a crossover between classic arcade design and modern Battle Royale encounters.
