Storm Scout: Fortnite's Newest Base Sprite
What the Storm Scout Actually Is
The Storm Scout is a brand-new base Sprite, not a variant of an existing one. That distinction matters because the Override Sprite economy rewards the base version more than its Gold and event variants, and the Storm Scout is the first new base type added since Chapter 7 launched. Its power effect is tied to storm damage: after you take 10 points of storm damage, the effect triggers and grants Overdrive together with unlimited Stamina for 12 to 20 seconds, depending on the Sprite's level. Unlike most Sprites, the Storm Scout also reveals the location of future storm circles on the map once it reaches its maximum level, which makes it a navigation tool as much as a combat tool.
How the Sonic Hours Spawn Works
The Storm Scout debuted on August 29, 2026 during the Sonic Hours weekend event, which ran across two spawn windows with boosted Sprite appearance rates. It entered the shop the same day as two of its own variants: the Gold Storm Scout and the C Cheat Master Storm Scout. There is no confirmed fixed spawn location for the base version, and it arrives through the normal Sprite pool the same way Gold and Llama Sprites do. Because Sonic Hours has now ended, expect normal spawn rates again, which means fewer Storm Scouts per match than during the event windows.
Effect, Scaling and Max Level
Effect strength scales with Sprite level, which is why hunting duplicates matters. At low levels the 12-second Overdrive window is enough to escape one storm push, and unlimited Stamina removes the cost of sprinting through it. At maximum level the 20-second window covers full early rotations, and the storm-circle preview on the map removes the guesswork for the next two storm pushes. The C Cheat Master variant inherits the same effect shape but arrives through a different acquisition channel, so it is a substitute rather than an upgrade.
Storm Scout Variants: Gold and C Cheat Master
The Gold Storm Scout follows the standard variant pattern: same effect, higher drop tier, different acquisition cost. Gold Sprites cost more in Sprite Dust and usually appear on the same Service Station as their base, so you do not need a separate route to find the Storm Scout's Gold version. The C Cheat Master Storm Scout is the event-flavored variant introduced with Sonic Hours, and it carries the same 10 storm-damage trigger and the same max-level storm preview. Both variants are available for the rest of Chapter 7 Season 4, so the Storm Scout is not a short-window release.
Where and How to Get a Storm Scout
There is no confirmed fixed location for the Storm Scout, and every report of the release points to the normal Sprite pool. That means the acquisition path is the same as any other base Sprite: use the Cheat Code Locator to reveal Sprite positions, then the Portable Extractor to pull one from a match without killing yourself. The Portable Extractor also drops from Monday Cheat Code Day daily quests, which is currently the fastest reliable route to a base Sprite this season. For Mythic Sprites specifically, the Locator is the better spend because it directly improves the odds of finding rarer tiers in a single match.
Storm Scout Versus the Other Sprites
Compared with the earlier base Sprites, the Storm Scout is the strongest map-intelligence tool of the season but not the strongest combat tool. Gold Sprites still offer the better sustained power, and the Llama Sprite still offers the better economy for Sprite Dust income. Choose the Storm Scout when you rotate badly or you want to skip the storm-timing guesswork, and choose Gold when you want raw advantage in fights. Because the effect only triggers after you take storm damage, players who already dodge the storm reliably get less value from it than players who do not.
