What Are Vaults & Temple Vault Keys?

Vaults are locked treasure rooms added to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Override. Each vault is secured with a mechanism that requires a Temple Vault Key — a rare key item needed to access the high-tier loot inside.

The new temple-themed vaults follow the season's digital/temple cross-genre theme, and they have quickly become one of the most contested points of interest on the map.

All Vault Locations

Vaults spawn at set locations near the season's new POIs and temple landmarks. The most reliable vault spawns include the temple landmark areas, the digital district districts, and the map's southern and eastern quadrants where the new Ch7S4 structures concentrate.

How to Get Temple Vault Keys

Temple Vault Keys drop from hostile NPCs, rare chests, and the map's new temple mechanics. Keys are single-use and are consumed when you open a vault, so the best loadout strategy is to hold one key and make for the nearest vault before the endgame.

How to Open a Vault

Approach a vault door, interact with it while holding a Temple Vault Key, and wait for the unlock animation to complete. The door opens with high-tier loot inside. Vaults can also be opened by other means — some require a group, so squads have an advantage.

Vault Rewards

Vaults contain the best loot in the season: legendary and mythic weapons, rare healing items, large ammo stacks, and sometimes unique one-off items. Opening a vault early can set up a dominant endgame loadout.
