Sonic Universe Expands in Fortnite

The Sonic the Hedgehog crossover with Fortnite has expanded dramatically. While Sonic's arrival was first announced weeks ago, the official Gaming Legends reveal confirmed that Tails, Dr. Eggman, and Shadow are all joining the Fortnite roster in Override.

This is the most characters from a single franchise ever added to Fortnite in one season. The Sonic universe expansion demonstrates the strength of Sega's partnership with Epic Games.

Tails is Sonic's best friend and trusted sidekick with his signature orange and white fur and two tails that let him fly. Expected cosmetics include a Tails skin, tail-flight glider, and a Tornado plane wrap.

Tails (Miles Prower) — The Two-Tailed Genius

Dr. Eggman is Sonic's arch-nemesis. The mad scientist's iconic round physique and Eggmobile vehicle make him a perfect Fortnite addition. He is expected to be an Item Shop skin.

Shadow the Hedgehog is one of the most requested characters in Fortnite history. His black and red color scheme, hover skates, and Chaos powers set him apart. Expected cosmetics include a Shadow skin, Chaos Control emote, and hover skate trails.

Sonic is believed to be a Battle Pass unlock (Tier 50-70), Tails as a mid-tier unlock (Tier 30-50), Dr. Eggman as an Item Shop purchase, and Shadow as a premium Item Shop skin.

All Sonic universe characters will arrive with the launch of Chapter 7 Season 4 Override on August 20, 2026. Sonic and Tails are expected to be available immediately through the Battle Pass.
