All Fortnite Sprite Locations & Abilities (Chapter 7 Season 3)

📅 Last updated: July 27, 2026

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 introduced 20 Sprites — collectible companions that grant passive abilities like auto-shields, speed boosts, and material regeneration. Sprites spawn at fixed locations across the island, and each player can carry one at a time. This guide lists every sprite's location, ability, and the four rare variants, verified for the v37.30 patch (July 2026).

How Sprites Work in Season 3

Sprites are floating companions introduced with the "Runners" season, and they represent Fortnite's first persistent companion mechanic. You find them at glowing spawn pedestals marked on your map with a sparkle icon — all 20 pedestal locations are fixed and shown in the table below. Approach a pedestal and interact to bond with the sprite; it then follows you for the rest of the match, granting its passive ability automatically with no input required. Each sprite's ability has a cooldown or charge system: for example, Shield Sprite regenerates 5 shield every 10 seconds up to 50 bonus shield, while Speed Sprite grants a 15% movement boost for 5 seconds after eliminations. You can only carry one sprite at a time, but you can swap by interacting with a different pedestal — the old sprite returns to its spawn point and becomes available to other players. Sprites despawn if you're eliminated, and in squad play each member can carry their own separate sprite, making squad composition a real strategic layer (a shield sprite plus a material sprite plus a speed sprite covers most scenarios). Rare variants — Golden, Shadow, Prismatic, and Neon — offer enhanced versions of base abilities with distinct visual effects, spawning at the same pedestals with only a 5% chance per match. Sprites also award 2,500 XP when first bonded each match, contributing to Battle Pass progression. Note that sprites are disabled in Arena and competitive playlists; Epic has stated they're monitoring community feedback before considering ranked inclusion.

Cube Sprites: New in v41.20 (July 24, 2026)

Epic launched Cube Sprites on July 24 2026 as part of the v41.20 update tying into the Zero Point storyline. Cube Sprites are a new variant distinct from the 20 base Sprites listed above. They appear as small dark-purple crystalline companions with geometric cube-shaped cores and faint particle trails. Unlike regular Sprites that grant passive combat abilities Cube Sprites focus on collection and progression: find them scattered across the island extract them by holding the interact button for three seconds and add them to your Cube Sprite Collection in the Locker tab. Each extracted Cube Sprite contributes to a collection tier that unlocks cosmetic rewards including loading screens emotes and a reactive wrap at tier 10. Cube Sprites do not occupy your active Sprite slot you can carry a regular Sprite and collect Cube Sprites simultaneously.

Finding and Extracting Cube Sprites

Cube Sprites spawn at semi-random locations each match but favor areas near Zero Point rifts and corrupted terrain visible as dark crystalline growths on the ground. Check edges of named POIs inside buildings with glowing purple cracks in the walls and along riverbanks where terrain appears fractured. Extraction takes three seconds and can be interrupted by damage so clear the area first. A subtle audio cue a low humming tone plays within 30 meters of a Cube Sprite. You can extract up to five per match and collection progress persists across matches within the season.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3?
Sprites are collectible companion creatures introduced with the "Runners" season that grant passive abilities like shield regeneration, speed boosts, material drops, or elimination-based effects. They spawn at 20 fixed pedestals across the island, and you bond with one by interacting with its pedestal. Each player carries one sprite per match, and sprites award 2,500 XP on first bond.
Can you have more than one sprite at a time?
No — each player can carry exactly one sprite. However, you can swap sprites by interacting with a different spawn pedestal, which releases your current sprite back to its home location where other players can pick it up. In squads, each teammate can carry their own separate sprite, so coordinating sprite types across your squad adds a genuine strategic layer.
What are the rare sprite variants?
There are four rare variants, each with a 5% spawn chance at any pedestal: Golden (2x ability strength), Shadow (ability activates on eliminations instead of passively), Prismatic (random bonus effect each match), and Neon (extended ability duration). Each has distinct visual effects that make them easy to spot — Golden sprites glow brightly, while Shadow sprites emit dark particles.
Do sprites work in ranked and competitive modes?
Sprites are disabled in Arena/Ranked modes and all official competitive playlists. They only function in standard Battle Royale, Zero Build, and Team Rumble. Epic has stated they're monitoring community feedback before considering ranked inclusion, so competitive players shouldn't expect sprites in Arena during Season 3.
